The Lodge is a quality detached cottage in the countryside in Carleton near Cumbria. The property has three ground floor twins, two first floor double bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms, and a bathroom and shower room on the ground floor. There is a kitchen with breakfast table, sitting room with dining area and open fire, sun room with woodburning stove and a sitting room with arcade gaming machine. Outside is a garden and patio with hot tub, furniture and BBQ. The Lodge makes a wonderful base for accessing the M6 and enjoying the Lake District and Solway coast.

Oil central heating with open fire and woodburning stove. Electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, 3 x TVs with Freeview, DVD, Wii with games. Fuel, power and starter packs for fire and stove inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Travel cot and highchair on request. Off road parking for 5 cars. Enclosed lawned garden with patio, hot tub, furniture and BBQ. Two well-behaved dogs welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Shop and pub 10 mins walk. Note: This property is located close to the M6 motorway and there may be some traffic noise. Note: Low beams with restricted head height in bedrooms. |

And of course there are the lakes themselves: glorious Windermere, pretty Derwent Water and beautiful Ullswater are just some of the highlights of a holiday in this area.
For the historically minded, Cumbria offers a wealth of Celtic monuments, Roman remains, stately homes and ruined abbeys. Carlisle still has some of its ancient walls standing, as well as a Norman castle, and the western part of Hadrian’s Wall is nearby. Other places of interest include Penrith, with its castle and remarkably unchanged market square; Keswick, which was once the centre of pencil manufacturing; the busy market town of Kendal and Cockermouth, Wordsworth’s birthplace.
